Biography
Judy grew up in Minnesota, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. She has varied professional experience, including social work, poverty law issues, and general civil law, with a special interest in child welfare law.
​
Her past employers include Montana Legal Services, the State Bar of Montana, Montana Attorney General's Child Protection Unit, and MSU Billings Student Legal Services. She joined the Goodrich Law Firm in 2005.
​
Judy specializes in representing people in adoptions of all kinds, including stepparents or other relatives, State, private agencies, and complicated private adoption matters; representing children in abuse and neglect proceedings in Montana District Courts; and guardianships of minors.
​
She is the only Child Welfare Law Specialist in Billings, and 1 of just 2 statewide, certified by the National Association of Counsel for Children and approved by the American Bar Association.
​
In 2022 Judy received the State Bar of Montana George L. Bousliman Professionalism Award, honoring her for years of public interest legal work on behalf of children, MSU Billings students, and low income Montanans.
​
Judy is active in the Billings community, having served various organizations over the years, including the local CASA program board, volunteering in her children's schools, Yellowstone Art Museum Summerfair committee chair, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and the United Campus Ministry Board.
​
Outside of work Judy enjoys spending time with her husband and family, friends, and dogs, and she also finds time to read, cook, knit, hike, and travel.
